The Hesketh Tavern is a pub situated in fairly large grounds on Hulme Hall Road, opposite the original railway station. A public house has existed on the site since the early 19th century. Originally, there was a village inn known as the Horse and Jockey. This was replaced by the Hesketh Arms Hotel, built in around 1864 by the lord of the manor, William Bamford Hesketh. The manor court was held in this building until the early 20th century. In the late 19th century, the stable block was demolished and replaced by the modern-day lounge, and later on in the 1970s, the bowling green was replaced by the car park.
