Gill Bent Road Co-oP re-opens following major investment

By Andrew Torr on Apr 16, 2019

The Co-op is set to serve-up its latest new-look food store in Cheadle Hulme this week following a near £550,000 programme of works to overhaul its Gill Bent Road store.

The 2,600 sq. ft. store relaunches on Thursday, 18 April, following investment which has changed the layout and look of the store, including an enhanced bakery, hot food, Costa coffee dispenser and an increased focus on fresh, healthy foods, food to go, meal ideas, award winning wines and, essentials.

The store , which opens between 7am-10pm, is also recruiting for two new colleagues – members of the community with a passion for food and community should pop into the store or visit https://jobs.coop.co.uk/ for more information.

The store brings a funding boost locally through its Membership scheme – members receive a 5% reward on the purchase of own-brand products and services, with Co-op donating a further 1% to local causes. While the community retailer also offers a 10% discount to students holding the NUS extra (TOTUM) card to support them during their studies.

Craig Barnes, Co-op Area Manager, said: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to make such a significant investment in Cheadle Hulme – the store has a great new look and enhanced range in order to better serve the needs of our local community. It’s all about getting closer to our members and customers, providing what they want, need and care about, conveniently.

“We also want customers to know that they can become a co-owner and member of their Co-op, and that the Co-op gives back to its Members and the community – our Members help us to make a difference locally, raising money for local causes simply by swiping their Membership card when they shop with us.“
