Swann Lane is one of the oldest roads in Cheadle Hulme. Full of Victorian houses, it connects Ravenoak Road with Hulme Hall Road, and is in many ways, still a quiet country lane. There is a church, built in 1979, though there has been a church on the site since 1870. It forms part of an important conservation area.

Until the late 1990s, there was a school too – first Cheadle Hulme High School for Girls, then Hulme Hall Grammar School's junior and nursery departments.
