Grove Lane Day and Sunday School was built in 1846 by William Fowden, a local man who also built Grove Lane Baptist Church. It was enlarged in 1926 and as well as serving as a school, it was used as a social centre and canteen during the second world war. It no longer operates as a school, though the building is still extant.
