Notes
Formerly known as Ridge Danyers College, Cheadle and Marple Sixth Form College was established on 15 August 1995 through the merging of two separate colleges, The Ridge College in Marple, and Margaret Danyers College in Cheadle Hulme.
Margaret Danyers College was established in 1991 on the site of a secondary school, The Manor County Secondary School. This was formerly two separate boys' and girls' schools, Moseley Hall Grammar School for boys (which was originally located opposite Schools Hill) and Cheadle County Grammar School for Girls. The girls' school was built in 1956, and is still extant today. The boys' school moved to be adjacent to the girls' school in 1970, though they operated separately for many years. When the schools merged, the boys' school became the Moseley building, and the girls' school became the Bulkeley building. The Moseley building was demolished in 2001 due to concrete decay, and was replaced by a new building.
According to the Nuffield 14-19 report in 2004, it was the largest college in the country with over 9000 students, though this has since been overtaken.
