Cheadle Road is, as could be guessed, the main road that leads to Cheadle from Cheadle Hulme. An ancient route said to have been created in Roman times, it was originally known as Street Lane. It begins at the junction of Albert Road, Hulme Hall Road and Turves Road, and stretches north up to Schools Hill, where it changes into Wilmslow Road. The road is mostly residential, but there are notable non-residential establishments such as Cheadle and Marple Sixth Form College, the co-operative, The Kenilworth pub, some take-aways, several other shops, and within the Cheadle part, Cheadle Pools and Target Fitness.
