While its main roads are normally busy throughout the day, there are many quiet neighbourhoods ideal for young families. There are hundreds of shops and businesses, most situated on Station Road, in what is known as the "district centre". It also has the most schools out of any place in the Stockport borough, numbering 16 plus one college.
